A serious incident has been recorded in Bavaria, where a 41-year-old mother is accused of murdering her 4-year-old child, and then injuring herself with the knife she used in the crime.
The incident took place in Traunstein, Bavaria, and German media reported that the preschool-aged child was found dead in an apartment. A knife was found next to the child's body, which the 41-year-old woman had used to slaughter the minor. She then used the same tool to stab herself.
The child had been stabbed several times, German media reported.
The Criminal Police and the Traunstein Public Prosecutor's Office took over the investigation. "Currently, there is strong evidence that the 41-year-old German woman caused fatal injuries to her child sometime on February 24th and then injured herself," a police spokesman said.
The exact circumstances of the crime remain unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
