Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
During the joint press conference, Netanyahu said he feels threatened by political violence.
The statement came when asked to comment on the killing of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk. According to him, Israel is suffering from extraordinary violence from political opponents, Netanyahu said.
Calling his opponents a "threat to democracy," the Israeli prime minister declared that he too was under threat.
Rubio, for his part, said Kirk's killing was like "a death in the family," noting that he was a personal friend of many members of the Trump administration.
Rubio at this meeting reiterated the full support of the US for Israel's actions and called for the immediate return of all hostages, emphasizing that Hamas must be "eliminated" as an armed organization.
"Every hostage must be returned immediately and Hamas must be neutralized ," he said.
