Three bodies have been found in Montagnareale, Italy, in a forested area called contrada Caristia, shocking the local community. The alarm was raised at the unique emergency number 112 and the carabinieri and the on-call prosecutor of the Patti Prosecutor's Office immediately intervened at the scene.
According to initial reports, the bodies of three men were found shot to death. They had been out hunting in the mountainous area of Nebrodi since the morning. The victims have been identified as Antonio Gatani, 82, from Librizzi, Davis Pino, 26, and Giuseppe Pino, both from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. According to authorities, they are people with no criminal records.
A hunting rifle was found near each of the bodies. The area where the events took place is particularly difficult to reach and is frequently frequented by hunters of wild boar and other species of wildlife.
The investigations, coordinated by the provincial commander of the Messina Carabinieri, Lucio Arcidiacono, are still in the initial phase and no leads are being ruled out: from the involvement of a fourth person, to the scenario of a double murder followed by suicide. The authorities are analyzing ballistic evidence and reconstructing the victims' last movements to fully elucidate the circumstances of this serious event.
