A Paris court has found 10 people guilty of cyberbullying Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron.
All were accused of spreading false claims about her gender and sexuality, as well as making "malicious comments" about the couple's 24-year age difference.
The defendants were given suspended prison sentences of up to eight months. A conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been circulating since her husband was first elected in 2017.
Macron first met his wife when she was a teacher at his high school. The couple married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was about 55.
