Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced that he will not run for re-election in the upcoming presidential elections. During a heated press conference after meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stoker, Vučić made a strong statement about quitting politics.
"I am a political veteran, I can no longer run for president!" Vučić said.
He emphasized that he will end his presidential career after a year and a half, rejecting any possibility of changes to the Serbian Constitution that would allow him another term.
In a defiant tone, Vučić responded to critics: "I am not a dictator !" a statement that has sparked debate at a time when political tensions in Serbia are at their peak.
Meanwhile, the evening of August 12 in Vrbas descended into chaos, with mass protests leading to violent clashes. Around 70 people were injured, including 16 police officers, highlighting the deep polarization in the country.
