Former United States President Joe Biden drew attention during a Democratic Party gala in the state of Maryland, near Baltimore, after he appeared to have difficulty finding his way off the stage at the end of his speech.
During his speech, Biden defended the record of his presidency and criticized his successor, Donald Trump. He accused him of "deliberate distraction" and actions that, in his opinion, harm NATO. He also called the plan for a new White House ballroom a "vanity project."
At the end of his speech, after reiterating his message that the United States can overcome challenges, Biden turned in several directions, seeking direction to exit the stage. After receiving instructions, he turned his back on the audience.

His appearance in Maryland reportedly came just days after attending the inauguration of Barack Obama's presidential library in Chicago. At that event, media outlets reported that Biden stood on stage for a few moments looking for his niece, while at other times he was guided by his wife, former First Lady Jill Biden.
During his speech at the gala, the 83-year-old used a teleprompter to read his prepared speech.
Biden withdrew from the race for re-election in 2024 after a poor performance in the presidential debate with Donald Trump, while Democrats later chose another candidate for the presidential election.
The former president is also battling advanced prostate cancer. Meanwhile, Jill Biden, while promoting her new book, revealed that after the 2024 presidential debate she initially thought her husband might have had a stroke.
