Moments of panic were recorded in Dubai, when tourists dining at a restaurant ran away after mistaking the sound of an iftar ball for a missile attack.
The incident occurred at sunset, when the UAE, like many Muslim countries, traditionally fires a cannon to mark the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. However, in the climate of high tensions in the region, some of those present interpreted the noise as an explosion or airstrike.
Footage circulating on social media showed people rushing to get up from their tables and leave the venue, while some sought shelter. According to local media, the situation calmed down within minutes after it was clarified that it was a traditional ceremony and not a security incident.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates reported no real threat or security-related incidents. However, the event reflects the high level of public sensitivity, at a time when conflicts in the Middle East have heightened concerns about regional stability.
