Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing the Federal Security Service of Russia, called for the "hunt" of traitors. He said they should be identified and punished.
"We will punish them indefinitely, wherever they are," he said, adding that Russia will not forget traitors who commit crimes against the state.
Putin specifically referred to Ukraine's attacks on the border region of Belgorod, where civilian casualties have recently been reported. Between Friday and Sunday, while the presidential elections were taking place in Russia, there were intense attacks in the region.
The president also called on the FSB to cooperate with other intelligence services in strengthening counter-terrorism operations.
"We are facing a strong and dangerous opponent who has a wide range of information, technical and financial resources in his arsenal," Putin said.
"It is also necessary to strengthen border security, for example by increasing the efficiency of mobile units," Putin said.
He referred to land and sea borders, including the Black Sea, where Ukrainian forces were successful against the Russian navy.
