Another plane crash has occurred in recent hours, where a small plane with 6 people on board crashed and none survived. The accident occurred in the US state of New York.
As Todd Inman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said, the "fatal collision" that occurred is being investigated by authorities.
The Mitsubishi MU-2B private jet crashed in a field in the eastern US state, just 20 kilometers from the Columbia County Airport.
The New York Times reported that all six passengers were killed when the plane crashed into a mud field in Copake near the Massachusetts border. The occupants are said to be from the same family and were on their way to a birthday party, the newspaper reported.
According to several US media reports, the victims are former college football star Karenna Groff, her brother Jared Groff, her parents Dr. Michael Groff and Dr. Joy Saini, and her boyfriend James Santoro.
Karenna Groff was selected as the 2022 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Woman of the Year.
While approaching the airport, the pilot lost visibility. The plane is said to be a private jet belonging to Michael's father. It was severely deformed by the impact and was partially stuck on the ground.
Investigators are expected to spend about a week at the crash site.
It can take 12 to 24 months to complete a full accident report, Inman said.
Just last week, six people died when a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in New York. Among the victims was a Spanish Siemens manager. The next day, a small plane crashed on a road in Florida and exploded. Three people died.
In January, a military helicopter and a passenger plane collided over the US capital, Washington, killing 67 people.
