Israeli forces have launched ground operations beyond the "Yellow Line," the northern border of Israel's self-proclaimed military security zone in southern Lebanon, an Israeli military official confirmed to CNN.
According to the official, the expanded operations, which were described as "targeted," aim to push back Hezbollah's drone-detonating capabilities and remove direct threats to Israeli communities near the border.
"The aim of the operations is to push the explosive capabilities of Hezbollah drones further away from the border and thereby remove direct threats," the Israeli military official told CNN.
The “Yellow Line” runs several kilometers north of the border between Israel and Lebanon and intersects with the Litani River at one point. According to reports, about 55 towns and villages south of this line are currently under Israeli control.
In recent weeks, Israeli forces had avoided operations beyond this area, following requests from the US, which is mediating direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon.
However, Israel has reportedly decided to intensify operations against Hezbollah's drone infrastructure in coordination with the US.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it struck more than 100 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon overnight and issued broad evacuation orders for residents of the southern city of Nabatieh.
"Anyone who is near Hezbollah operatives or facilities may be putting their lives at risk," the IDF warned in its statement.
