Rafah/Blinken evacuation plan seeks security for civilians: Hamas is blocking

Israeli forces are preparing to attack Rafah, where more than 1.5 million Palestinians have taken refuge.

According to the Associated Press, during this week Tel Aviv informed the administration officials of the American president, Joe Biden, regarding the plan for the evacuation of Palestinian civilians.

The operation in Rafah, according to the Israeli forces, will also be decisive in the complete destruction of the militant group Hamas.

The officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly about the sensitive talks, said the plan detailed by the Israelis has not changed the US administration's position that an offensive in Rafah would put too many innocent Palestinian civilian lives at risk.

Washington has warned of consequences for Israel if it carries out an operation without a credible plan to protect civilians.

The warning came from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
"In the absence of such a plan, we cannot support a major military operation in Rafah because the damage would be beyond what is acceptable. In the meantime, we are working every day to provide them with the help and support they need  . "

The senior American official also spoke about a possible agreement between the two parties. According to Blinken, Hamas is the only obstacle.

"We are waiting to see if, in fact, Hamas will say 'yes' to the ceasefire and release the hostages." And reality right now is the only thing standing between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire. The obstacle is Hamas", said the official.

Nearly 1.5 million Palestinians have taken refuge in Rafah because of the war that began on October 7 when Hamas radicals attacked Israel.
