The President of Palestine and the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, spoke today via a "live" link at the United Nations.
His speech focused on the situation in Gaza and Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
Today, about 700,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, writes A2 CNN.
"The extremist Israeli government continues to implement its settlement policies... the latest was the construction plan for E1, which would divide the West Bank in two and isolate occupied Jerusalem from its surroundings, as well as undermine the option of a two-state solution, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions," Abbas said, among other things.
He also warns of "settler terrorism."
Abbas adds: “They burn houses and fields, uproot trees and attack villages, as well as attack unarmed Palestinian civilians. In fact, they killed them in broad daylight under the protection of the Israeli army.”
