Anti-corruption protests in the Philippines have escalated, with violent clashes between security forces and protesters.

Police and protesters clashed in the streets of the Philippine capital, Manila, on Sunday, as videos showed a number of demonstrators being arrested.

Protesters claim that funds allocated for flood control projects have been mismanaged.

A wave of anger has been seen on TikTok, Facebook and X, where Filipinos are venting their reactions against lawmakers and construction tycoons who they say win contracts for "ghost" projects that never materialize.
