Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree banning the export of refined gold in the form of bars weighing over 100 grams, starting May 1, 2026. The news was reported by the state agency TASS, which refers to a document published on Russia's official legal information website.
According to the decree, the ban applies to individuals, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, restricting the export of this type of gold abroad.
"From May 1, 2026, a ban is imposed on the export of refined gold in bars weighing over 100 grams," the decree published by Russian authorities states.
However, the document provides for some exceptions. The export of gold bars will be allowed through air border checkpoints at certain international airports, but only in cases where a relevant permit has been obtained.
Russian authorities have not provided additional details on the reasons for this decision or the expected impact on international gold markets.
