Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned of global war if NATO sends troops to Ukraine.
Ria Novosti announced the news, citing the Kremlin leader in a press conference from Uzbekistan, where he is on an official visit. He has threatened nuclear weapons again.
" Continued escalation of the situation in Ukraine by Western countries may have consequences, just remember the nuclear parity between Russia and the US. Another step towards conflict in Europe and a global war ," he said.
On the other hand, he hit NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg, who suggested that Ukraine strike inside Russian territory. " I remember when he was the (Norwegian) prime minister and he still didn't suffer from dementia ," the head of the Kremlin said, quoted by Tass.
According to him, the use of Western missiles to strike deep into Russian territory will bring "serious consequences". These missiles, Putin added, will still be guided by NATO personnel because their use requires "satellite intelligence information" that only the Alliance has available. European countries, especially those "with a small territory and a high population density" should understand what they risk "before talking about attacks deep inside Russian territory", the president added.
He further stated that NATO has already sent instructors to Ukraine. According to him, they are the ones who operate with the weapons sent by the West.
" High-precision weapons supplied by the West to Ukraine are operated by instructors in the guise of mercenaries. But Russia will do "what it sees fit, regardless of who is on the territory of Ukraine ," he said.
