The former deputy commander of the Naval Fleet, Artur Meçollari, says that KFOR is clear about what happened to the three Kosovo police officers on the border between Kosovo and Serbia.
Meçollari said that the three policemen were arrested by the so-called Cobra of Serbia group, which is no more than 100 troops and acts only on the orders of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.
"I am convinced that KFOR went to Belgrade and did the necessary investigations, because it is understood that the Cobra forces that kidnapped them were investigated and interrogated, but it seems that there is a silence so as not to aggravate the political situation. The 100 Cobra forces are 100 in all of Serbia, no more. They are located in the military police, but from an operational point of view they depend on the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army. They were moved from Belgrade, where they are staying, with a special order and entered 5 km away from the territory of Kosovo. The Kumanovo Agreement does not allow Serbian military forces to approach 5 km from the border. We are in a delicate situation; the political situation makes it more evasive since the parties are not declaring exactly what happened", said Meçollari, he said in the Review show.
The Kosovo police said at noon on Wednesday that three border officials were kidnapped by Serbian forces during a patrol in a place called Tresave/Bare, on the border line in the north of Kosovo.
According to an announcement by the Kosovo Police, the police unit has been carrying out a patrol "deep inside the territory of Kosovo" to prevent the use of illegal roads, which according to this institution are used by criminal groups for illegal crossing and smuggling.
The police said that this unit, consisting of three border officials, announced that they had noticed masked and armed persons and requested assistance and other police units were headed towards them.
