Russia said today that it has shot down dozens of drones launched by Ukraine.
Russia's Defense Ministry said 42 drones were destroyed over Crimea, nine shot down by air defense forces, 33 by the use of electronic means.
Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014. There were no reports of casualties.
The US Defense Department said Thursday it will train Ukrainians in the use and maintenance of F-16 fighter jets.
The Defense Department said in a statement that the training will be held at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, Arizona.
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said the training by the United States is in line with international efforts to develop and strengthen Ukraine's defenses in the long term.
The training will begin in October, after the Ukrainians complete an English language course that will begin in September.
Meanwhile, Norway is donating F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere said during a visit to Kiev on Thursday.
The exact number of aircraft donated was not clear, but the prime minister said it would probably be fewer than 10.
Norway is the third European country, after the Netherlands and Denmark, to announce the donation of fighter jets for use in the war of Ukraine against Russia.
Also on Thursday, the United States announced the imposition of sanctions on 11 people and 2 entities said to be linked to the displacement and forced transfer of Ukrainian children, as Washington increases pressure on Moscow over its aggression in Ukraine.
The government of Ukraine estimates that Russian authorities have forcibly expelled and/or displaced over 19,500 children from their homes since the start of Russian aggression in Ukraine in 2022.
