The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia has undertaken an initiative to restore compulsory military service, which envisages requiring citizens to serve for four months by law.
Asked about this issue, representatives of the US State Department say that the US is closely monitoring the situation.
"We have seen these reports and are monitoring the situation closely. We remain committed to regional stability and encourage the countries of the region to be transparent about their internal security policies", said a DASH spokesperson for the Kosovar media.
It is worth noting that the Minister of Defense of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, emphasized a few days ago that the General Staff of the Army has initiated the initiative to the President of Serbia, as supreme commander, to remove the decision on the suspension of compulsory military service, with the aim of reactivating again of the law defining compulsory military service.
