More than 27 House Democrats on Tuesday accused Elon Musk's X platform of "taking advantage of violent Hamas content on the platform" and demanded that the CEO act accordingly.
"The platform has become a hotbed of misinformation and terrorist propaganda. Since platform X is profiting from this content, we need detailed answers," the group of 27 Democrats, led by Rep. Dan Goldman of New York and Jamie Raskin of Maryland.
The 27 lawmakers gave Musk and CEO Linda Giacarino until Dec. 1 to provide "any details" about posts or accounts linked to Hamas. Additionally, House Democrats demanded that the two describe how X plans to restrict content related to Hamas.
The letter comes as Musk, the world's richest man, and X, the platform he bought last year for $44 billion, face fresh anti-Semitic allegations that threaten to deeply damage the company's advertising-based revenue model.
Apple, Disney and Comcast, the parent company of CNBC, are among the companies that suspended ads on the X platform last week after Musk publicly agreed with an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that "Jewish communities promoted hatred against whites."
