The US has announced that an agreement has finally been reached with Israel on humanitarian pauses. The White House said Israel would begin enforcing four-hour "humanitarian pauses" in northern Gaza each day to allow people to leave.
Spokesman John Kirby called the move a step in the right direction and said the US wants the pauses to last as long as needed.
"The first humanitarian pause will be announced today and Israel has committed to announcing each window at least three hours in advance. America still does not support a ceasefire in Gaza at this time. The Biden administration has provided a second avenue for civilians to flee the fighting ," Kirby said.
He added that the US aims to see at least 150 humanitarian trucks enter Gaza every day to cover the needs of people in the devastated city.
