President Trump has stated that Ukraine may even forget about NATO membership, while accusing the alliance of being the cause of the War in Ukraine.
"You can forget about NATO, that was probably the reason the war started," the US president said of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
During the meeting where he gathered his cabinet after being elected president, when asked what it was like to negotiate with Vladimir Putin, Trump said that the Russian president is a very smart person, but also very cunning.
He added that Putin had no intention of making peace unless Trump was elected US president.
"I've dealt with some really bad people, but he had no intention of settling this war. I think he wanted negotiations when I was elected, we talked and I think we're going to have a deal," Trump declared.
