Anti-Israel protests have erupted in Rome, Milan, Florence, Pisa, Turin, Naples, Bari and Bologna. Marches were also held in Ancona and Trieste.

Thousands of protesters have taken to the squares across Italy for the general strike in support of the people of Gaza, announced by grassroots unions.

Italian media reports that there were clashes between protesters and police. The march was blocked by police on the road leading to the airport, while police officers removed journalists "for security reasons."

"We are against violence of any kind, please clear the way ," the protesters said over a loudspeaker.

A group of cyclists reached the intersection of the Turin-Caselle highway, where there were police checkpoints. When the police refused to let them pass, the protesters tried to break the blockade by force. The police fired tear gas at the protesters in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

Bottles and fireworks were thrown towards the police cordon, who responded with gunfire and water cannons.

Around 70 activists, including families with children, gathered in Borgaro and began the march towards Caselle, paralyzing traffic on the provincial road. The protesters tried to break the blockade, but the police reacted immediately.

"There are ten injured among us ," protesters reported after trying to break through the police cordon to get from Turin to Sandro Pertini airport in Caselle.

Dozens of injured people are receiving medical treatment in a specially organized medical vehicle for the march, which has water, disinfectant and ice. Meanwhile, the march has moved several blocks, seeking an alternative route to the airport.

Meanwhile, two police officers on duty in Turin were injured in the pro-Palestine march, which will go to Turin's Caselle Airport.

After trying to break the cordon, the protesters looked for other routes to reach the airport, finally deciding to return to the city, where they gathered around 6:30 pm in Corso Giulio Cesare and headed towards the city center.

The march reached the Turin Motor Show in Piazza Castello, in the heart of Turin. Along the way, some protesters on Corso Giulio Cesare threw glass bottles at a balcony where an Israeli flag was hanging, but did not hit it.

However, the organizers themselves stopped this act, calling on people not to be provoked. After reaching Porta Palazzo, several thousand more protesters are heading towards the heart of the city, trying to reach the airport security nets./ Adapted from "Pamphlet" by "Corriere".
