The number of people injured in an explosion at a gas station in the Italian capital, Rome, has risen to 45, with six of them in critical condition and two in life-threatening condition, according to Italian authorities.
24 of the injured are civilians, 11 police officers, 1 carabinieri, 6 firefighters and three are members of the 118 team.
Footage of the explosion shows a giant fireball and thick black smoke filling the sky, while the blast was reportedly heard across the city, shaking windows and nearby buildings.
It all started with a tanker truck that had just finished unloading LPG at the gas station.
The vehicle, during a maneuver, hit a pipe used for exhaust. This is where the first gas leak began, causing the first powerful explosion.
A short time later, a second, larger explosion rocked the area after a fire broke out, injuring 45 people, including civilians, firefighters and police officers, according to police.
