A secret plan by the French Foreign Ministry against Russian disinformation has been revealed due to the negligence of French diplomats, reports the newspaper Le Canard Enchaîné.
The plan to combat Russian disinformation had a budget of 40 million euros per year, but the ministry's services did not classify this sensitive document as "secret" at all.
Among the measures proposed in the document are campaigns "of unknown origin" that, if discovered, could be justified; the production of unofficial videos on "sensitive" issues affecting France's "competitors"; and targeted leaks of information against foreign officials.
The newspaper emphasizes that an internal audit is being conducted within the Foreign Ministry to determine who is responsible for publishing the existence of this plan.
