Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his speech at the Valdai plenary session, stated that the current global environment, marked by rapid and often dramatic changes, requires readiness for any development.
He stressed that individual responsibility is particularly important, noting that the risks in the current situation are extremely high.
" We have repeatedly emphasized that we live in a time when everything changes very quickly, and these changes are often dramatic. Of course, none of us can fully predict the future, but this does not relieve us of the responsibility to be prepared for anything that may happen. Both practice and recent events show that we must be ready for anything. In such times, the responsibility of each person is especially great, the responsibility for his own fate, for the future of his country and for the whole world. The risks, in this case, are extremely high ," Putin said.
Putin further accused European countries of fomenting hysteria, trying to recreate the familiar enemy they invented hundreds of years ago. While Europe's "ruling elites" claim that war with Russia is imminent, Putin calls this "nonsense" that is "impossible to believe."
“ This would run counter to Russia’s security interests. Europeans are also skeptical, as “they don’t know what’s so bad about Russia and why they need to tighten their belts to confront Russia ,” he argues.
After diagnosing what he calls European malice, Putin went on to threaten that Russia will not fail to respond to the “dangerous” militarization of Europe.
"We must take this into account to support our defense and security. Russia will closely follow these developments. Russia's response would be, to put it mildly, quite convincing ," Putin said.
