For several years, the first lady of France has faced various conspiracy theories claiming that she was born a man and that her name was Jean-Michel Trogneux.
A few months ago, Brigitte Macron filed a lawsuit against American conservative activist Candace Owens. And next Monday, eight men and two women will go on trial before the Paris Criminal Court for sexist cyber harassment against 72-year-old Brigitte Macron.
A day before the trial, BFMTV will dedicate a documentary to the first lady of France and her reputation for being a man. In one excerpt, Tristan Bromet, chief of staff to Emmanuel Macron's wife, recalls a rather surprising scene that took place in September 2024.
"A discovery that caused panic at the Élysée": like all French citizens, Brigitte Macron entered the tax office website in her personal space. How great was her surprise when she discovered that on the online platform she had changed her name to Jean-Michel. "This is a section that concerns your identity, which is impossible to modify and no external intervention should be possible," explains Tristan Bromet.
The Élysée Palace immediately took the situation very seriously. Brigitte Macron filed a complaint and, according to the documentary, two people were identified as part of the investigation.
