Gunshots were recorded in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where several victims were also reported. The news was announced by foreign media, which quoted the authorities as saying that an armed person opened fire in a residence and then in a hospital in the Dutch city.
According to reports, the attacker first opened fire on a house, injuring two people, before setting fire to the building. A Rotterdam police spokesman said the suspect was then taken to a local hospital.
The Dutch police said that a 32-year-old man was arrested as the suspected perpetrator of the attack. He was arrested at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, suspected of being involved in both shooting incidents.
The perpetrator was said to be on a motorcycle, and was wearing combat clothing, had black hair and had a backpack, headphones and a handgun.
Erasmus Medical Center, identified by local police as the location of the shooting, earlier posted on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, urging people to stay away from the premises.
" Due to various incidents, we are currently asking you not to come to Erasmus MC ," the post says.
It is not yet known the number of dead or if the person arrested is the perpetrator, but to clarify the situation a press conference is expected at 18:45 local time (17:45 BST), with the mayor of Rotterdam, Aboutaleb, as well as the Service of the Public Prosecution and the police. /BBC
