If the US continues the naval blockade, Iran will consider it a violation of the ceasefire and close the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media Fars reported.
Citing a “well-informed source close to the Supreme National Security Council,” Fars reported that the reopening of the strait “depends on the implementation of certain conditions and a ceasefire in Lebanon.”
The source said that commercial ships passing through the Strait must sail through the route designated by Iran and coordinate with Iranian forces.
Earlier on Friday, President Donald Trump declared that the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open to everyone except Iran. He stated that the US blockade on Iran will remain in effect until the parties agree 100 percent on reaching a peace agreement.
Recall that this afternoon, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that the Strait of Hormuz has been fully opened to all commercial ships for the remainder of the ceasefire. He stressed that this decision is in full accordance with the ceasefire declared between Israel and Lebanon.
“In accordance with the ceasefire in Lebanon, passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open for the remaining period of the ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran ,” Araghchi wrote on the X platform.
