Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today asked the UN to impose an arms embargo on Israel, an action that, according to him, will be effective in ending the war in the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish president made this statement after a meeting of several hours with the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"Israel seeks provocations to expand conflicts in the region […]. An arms embargo against Israel by the United Nations would be an effective solution to end Israeli aggression ," he said.
A few days ago, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the time for diplomacy is over, calling for sanctions against Israel.
" We have nothing left to say diplomatically, politically... we are done with this. We need other means ," said Fidan.
