Tensions between Hungary and Ukraine have reached a peak. Ukraine's blockade of the pipeline carrying oil from Russia to Hungary has led Prime Minister Viktor Orban and President Volodymyr Zelensky to clash with statements and threats directed at each other, after Hungary's blocking of 90 billion euros in EU aid to Ukraine had no effect.
Speaking at a forum of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Orban warned that Hungary would use force to force Ukraine to reopen the oil pipeline. He stressed that this would be achieved not through negotiations, but through pressure. Orban said that Hungary possesses the necessary political and financial means to force the Ukrainian side to act.
"We will win and we will win by force. We have the political and financial means, and with that we will put pressure on them to reopen the Friendship Pipeline unconditionally and as soon as possible. I want to make it clear that we will win here and we will win by force. I will not make any pacts, there will be no compromises, we will defeat them. We will break the oil blockade. We will force the Ukrainians to resume supplies. Not by agreement, not by agreement, not by compromise, but by force," Orban declared.
On the other hand, the reaction of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been even stronger, turning into direct threats against Orbán. Zelensky declared that the European Union's aid, worth 90 billion euros, cannot be blocked by a single individual (Viktor Orbán). He argued that the money is needed to purchase modern fighter jets and added that he hoped that Orbán would not block the first tranche.
From the argument, Zelensky moved on to threats, saying that if Orbán refused again, then he would give the Ukrainian military his address, and then they could speak his language.
The comment, which could be interpreted as a dark joke or a direct threat, reflects the high level of frustration and urgency in Kiev. The blocking of military aid is seen as a direct obstacle to the country's defense capability, and pressure on European partners to act quickly is reaching new levels.
"You know that we need to have a prepayment from the Ukrainian side regarding the future aviation, regarding Gripen and Rafale. Mykhailo and I discussed this yesterday. We hope that a person in the European Union will not block 90 billion or the first tranche of 90 billion and the Ukrainian soldiers will have weapons. Otherwise, we will give the address of this person to our Armed Forces, our guys, let them call him and communicate with him in their language ," Zelensky declared./ Pamphlet
