A Thai ex-soldier shot his bride and 3 other people dead before shooting himself on their wedding day. The news was confirmed by the police for the prestigious BBC News.
44-year-old Kanchana Pachunthuek and 29-year-old Chaturong Suksuk got married in northeast Thailand. According to foreign media reports, he suddenly left the wedding and returned with a gun, shooting his wife, his 62-year-old mother and his 38-year-old sister.
The bullets that were thrown at the wedding also hit 2 guests, who were urgently sent to the hospital. One of them, unfortunately, passed away. Police told BBC News that according to preliminary information, the groom was very drunk, but the motive for the serious incident remains unclear.
Thai media, citing what party guests told police, said the couple got into an argument during the party. They reported that Chaturong had felt insecure about the age gap between him and Kanchana.
But police said this was still speculation, adding that they had gathered evidence and were expected to close the case soon. According to Thai media, Chaturong and Kanchana had lived together for three years before getting married.
