A serious event shook North Macedonia, where 59 young people lost their lives after a nightclub in Kocani was engulfed in flames.
Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Izet Mexhiti, has provided details of the event, saying that 50 young people are currently receiving treatment in neighboring countries such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, or Croatia.
Mexhiti says that measures have been taken and there will be strict controls for all nightclubs and in no case will there be tolerance for those caught violating the law.
"The mayor of Kocani has resigned as a sign of solidarity, acceptance of moral guilt, while the government has worked in emergency meetings to scan the situation, especially in terms of health. A large number of young people are being treated in Turkey. Strict measures have been taken. Starting this morning, nightclubs will be strictly controlled and there will be no lapses, not even a millimeter, where there will be violations. 20 people in the police and the authorities have been held accountable," Mexhiti told Report TV.
Stopping at the "Pulse" bar in question, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasizes that it had a forged license and that, according to him, these are the consequences of the corruption of the previous government.
"The license was forged and was issued by the Ministry of Economy without fulfilling the conditions. These are omissions from the rotten and corrupt system that existed in the past. The justice system has the final say, but the licenses were issued in the past," said Mexhiti.
He emphasizes that justice has the final say in this case.
"At the moment you are dealing with the situation, the treatment of young people. The Ministry of the Interior has taken measures, it is the state secretary from SDSM who has been arrested. Justice will have the last word. 50 young people are being treated in countries in Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Croatia.
"Change cannot happen overnight, we must also work on justice, the trust of citizens is at its lowest. There is a fierce fight against corruption at high levels, but in these 9 months, cases are being opened against ministers and figures linked to high-level corruption," Mexhiti emphasized.
