"I will speak with Putin on Tuesday"/ Kremlin reacts to Trump's

US President Donald Trump announced that he will have a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

Trump made the announcement during a flight from Florida to Washington on Air Force One on Sunday evening.

"A lot of work was done over the weekend. We want to see if we can finish that war," Trump said.

Trump added that topics of discussion will include issues such as land and power plants.

“We’re going to talk about land. We’re going to talk about power plants,” he said, describing it as a “separation of certain assets.”

The Kremlin has also confirmed that a phone call between Presidents Putin and Trump is being prepared for Tuesday. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed this to reporters on Monday, but did not provide specific details on the issues that would be discussed, including Ukrainian territories and nuclear power plants, as mentioned by Trump.

"We never do this," Peskov said, avoiding discussion about the details of the conversation.

European allies have expressed concerns about Trump's closeness to Putin and his criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This attitude became apparent after Zelenskyy visited the Oval Office about two weeks ago, where he was sharply criticized by Trump.

In an effort to push the negotiations forward, Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, visited Moscow to promote the talks and indicated that a phone call between Trump and Putin could happen soon.
