Iran called on the French government to end the violent treatment of its people after a wave of unrest sparked by the killing of a teenager by police, foreign media reported.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani also urged Iranian citizens on Twitter to "refrain from unnecessary travel to France" and told those there to avoid "conflict areas", warning of the "uncertain and unpredictable situation".
" We recommend the French government and the police to pay attention to the demands of the protesters and show restraint, avoiding any violence. The French government must stop the violent treatment of its citizens while respecting humane principles, freedom of expression and the right of citizens to demonstrate peacefully ," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said.
