Overnight, protesters attacked the home of the mayor of the Paris suburb of L'Haÿ-les-Roses, authorities said.
The attack happened at 01:30, when Vincent Jeanbrun was in his office. His wife and two children were asleep when unknown assailants crashed through the gate and set the car on fire.
When the mayor's family members tried to leave, they were hit by fireworks, as a result of which the wife and one of the children were injured.
It was "an attempted assassination of an indescribable coward," said Mayor Jeanbrun.
The police have launched an investigation.

On June 27, 2023, a 17-year-old of Algerian and Moroccan origin was shot by a police officer in the Nanter district, a suburb of Paris. The video published on social networks caused outrage in the suburbs of Paris where racism is more pronounced. The video shows two policemen who stopped the car of 17-year-old Nahel, M. and a voice is heard "I'm going to shoot a bullet in the head". After the shot, the car drives a few meters and then crashes. The teenager died as a result of chest wounds. A policeman has been arrested for the murder.
