"Let's not use nuclear rhetoric." This is the Kremlin's response to Donald Trump, while emphasizing that it does not want to start a debate with the American president on the issue of nuclear submarines.
As Reuters reports, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov downplayed the significance of Donald Trump's statements, arguing that it was clear that US submarines were already on their way.
At the same time, Peskov stressed that the visit of US special envoy to Russia, Steve Witkoff, is "important, essential and useful", while leaving open the possibility that the American official will meet with President Vladimir Putin.
Donald Trump announced that Witkoff will travel to Moscow on Wednesday or Thursday, "against" the new ultimatum to Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. The ultimatum expires in 10 days.
On Friday, Donald Trump announced that he had ordered two US nuclear submarines to be positioned near Russia, in case Medvedev's "stupid and inflammatory statements" "are not just words."
