US President Donald Trump said Iran is ready to reach a deal to end the conflict, in a telephone interview with TIME magazine, a day after his public speech.
He said Tehran has reason to seek negotiations, citing recent strikes on infrastructure. " Why don't they call? We just destroyed three of their main bridges last night ," he said, adding that pressure on Iran was increasing.
Trump dismissed claims that he is not negotiating with Iran, describing the process as simple. According to him, Iran is "eager" to reach a deal that would lead to an end to the war.
At the same time, he praised Iran's ability to withstand pressure, but emphasized that, in his opinion, the country is stronger in negotiations than in military conflict.
The statements come at a time of high tension in the region, as developments on the ground and diplomatic pressure are evolving in parallel.
