Trump attacks Tehran again and urges the regime to "take the situation seriously"
In a new tweet, Donald Trump attacked Iran again, stating, among other things, that the regime in Tehran should "take the situation seriously."
US President Donald Trump appears to have remained active on social media following last night's state dinner with King Charles of England.
In his new tweet, shortly after 4:00 a.m. in Washington, he attacked Iran again, saying the regime should "take the situation seriously" and that it "doesn't know how to sign a deal without nuclear weapons."
It is not entirely clear what exactly he meant by these new comments, however it is estimated that he is referring to efforts to pressure Tehran to give up its stockpile of enriched uranium.
The post was accompanied by an image, likely created with artificial intelligence, showing him holding a machine gun, with explosions in the background.
The image description read: "No more Mr. Nice Guy."
Yesterday, Iran offered to give up control of the Strait of Hormuz if the US lifts its blockade of the country and ends the war, in a proposal that would delay discussions on Iran's nuclear program. With a fragile ceasefire in place, the US and Iran are at loggerheads over the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's peacetime oil and gas trade passes.
His post indicates that he is not expected to accept this offer, which was conveyed to the Americans via Pakistan and would leave unresolved the disputes that led the US and Israel to war on February 28.
