"Thank you very much. We had a very good day, we all have a common goal to stop the killings. I had the honor of talking to President Zelensky, we talked about many issues, I spoke indirectly with Putin, I will talk to him during the day, maybe we will have a trilateral meeting."
"We haven't seen anything like this since World War II," said Donald Trump, US President, at a White House roundtable with European leaders on Ukraine.
Trump did not hesitate to compliment all those present, some more and some less, while emphasizing the trilateral meeting.
Regarding territorial issues, Trump said it is up to President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people to decide what they want to do.
"I am optimistic that we can reach an agreement that will determine the future of Ukraine," Trump said, emphasizing that the next step will be the trilateral meeting.
The US President then said that "we prefer an immediate ceasefire, but we are working towards a long-term peace."
"I like a ceasefire because it stops the killing, but a peace agreement is possible. As soon as I walk out the door, a conflict could start somewhere else and I will stop it," he said.
