Footage has been released of a gunman shooting and killing Ecuadorian presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio as he left a political rally in Quito.
Footage shared on social media of the shooting shows the politician leaving the event surrounded by guards, escorting him through a crowd of people gathered outside, cheering and clapping.
Villavicencio is then seen getting into the back seat of a waiting white truck - moments before shots are fired and the rear passenger door slams shut.
More than a dozen gunshots can be heard - as well as screams and screams as people run and run for cover.
