At least eight people were injured Wednesday evening in a Ukrainian airstrike against the Russian city of Belgorod.
The news was confirmed by the regional governor Vychislav Gladkov.
"The city and region of Belgorod became the target of an air strike by the Ukrainian armed forces. Houses and vehicles were hit directly."
"According to initial information, eight people were injured: seven adults and one child," he added.
Five of the injured, among them an 11-year-old girl, were injured by the projectile and were taken to the hospital, while the other three were given first aid on the spot.
According to officials, 19 buildings, a single house and 37 vehicles were damaged in the city. Four other detached houses and three vehicles were also damaged in the village of Dubovoe.
Just a short distance from the border with Ukraine, Belgorod is a frequent target of drone strikes, which Kiev says are in retaliation for virtually daily Russian shelling of Ukrainian cities over the past two years.
