United States Vice President JD Vance stated that Washington looks forward to future talks with Iran, but warned that it will not tolerate a lack of seriousness from the Iranian side.
Speaking to the media before departing for Pakistan, where negotiations are expected to take place, Vance said the US delegation has received clear instructions from President Donald Trump. The delegation also includes special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
"We expect the negotiations to be positive," Vance said. He stressed that the United States is ready to engage in dialogue if Iran acts in good faith.
According to him, the US administration remains open to an agreement, but warned that any attempt to deceive or drag out the process will be met with a tougher approach from the US negotiating team.
Vance's statements come at a sensitive diplomatic moment, as efforts to reduce tensions between the two countries remain fragile.
