Day after day, new details are emerging about the extortion of Rino Gattuso's father and sister in Corigliano Rossano, Calabria. The work of the investigators has led to the arrest of two people accused of aggravated extortion by mafia methods to demand money for the protection of Francesco and Ida Gattuso, with threats and intimidation, including burning two cars owned by the coach's sister of Marseille and the damage to the woman's house.
Based on what it turned out, to put an end to the extortion, Rino Gattuso intervened and, through a friend, paid what was demanded by the two criminals associated with the 'Ndrangheta and were subsequently arrested.
Both (local boss Aldo Abruzzese, 51, and Mustapha Hamil, his operative wing) are believed to be close to gangs active in the Calabrian city: they are accused of being instigators and executioners of intimidation.
Those responsible according to the Public Prosecution and the Antimafia District Directorate in Catanzaro for the arson of two cars owned by Ida Gattuso, which took place in Corigliano Rossano on October 17 and December 15, and for the damage – again by fire – to the woman's house.
The intimidation aimed to "convince" the Gattuso family to pay 3,000 euros before protection for a loan of 80,000 euros taken by Francesco Gattuso for the construction of a photovoltaic system.
According to what Corriere della Sera reports, among the accusations against two members of the 'Ndrangheta it is stated that "the two responsible for the extortion forced the Gattuso family, and in particular Francesco and Gennaro (known as Rino) Gattuso, through an employee of Gennaro Gattuso himself, to pay the amount of 1500 euros, in total 3 thousand euros".
At the beginning of the year, part of the amount to be paid was seized. The arrested, we read again in the indictment, are also accused of "the aggravating circumstance that they acted with a mafia method, based on the methods of crime execution, typical for mafia-type criminal organizations.
Il Corriere della Sera also published some intercepts in which Rino Gattuso's sister talks about what happened: "So did Salvatore land in Calabria?" asks a friend, referring to an associate of the former AC Milan player.
"Yes, my brother sent it, everything is fine", Ida Gattuso replies. "Only your brother could solve the story and no one else," replies the friend. In other conversations, Ida Gattuso appeared very concerned about the threats:
"Father has not paid yet. He had a Hollywood birthday, bought the car, but didn't fix things." And in another passage: "I told him that I had put my life in danger...I can't take it anymore." Neither I nor my children live under this pressure anymore".
