France has condemned the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip, which killed a French Foreign Ministry agent, and called for "light to be shed on this tragedy as soon as possible".
The agent had been working for France since 2022, and was staying at the home of one of his colleagues at the Consulate General. For security reasons, Paris has not publicly specified the identity and nationality of the agent eliminated in Gaza.
"We demand that the Israeli authorities shed full light on the circumstances of this bombing as soon as possible," the French ministry said in a statement.
While the French opposition revolted with this news and demanded that France "abandon" Netanyahu.
"Solidarity with the Quai d'Orsay staff. It's time to stand up to Netanyahu", wrote Antoine Lèaument, LFI MP for Essonne, in X.
