The Wagner group is trying to unite after the death of former boss Yevgeny Prigozhin. And this is what they are trying to do in Belarus. A situation that has forced Poland to strengthen surveillance on the border with the friendly country of Russia.
Polish General Arkadiusz Mikołajczyk, who is in charge of resource management and maneuverability of Polish units near the border, said: "We are following the situation closely, it all depends on who will be in charge of Wagner in the near future. The possible direction their actions may take and the level of escalation they may reach are unpredictable ."
On the other hand, the Pole explained that Wagner's mercenaries have different missions and one of them is none other than the "illegal infiltration of immigrants into Polish territory".
In fact, he recounted one of the episodes of the confrontation between the armies covering both sides of the border, where the Belarusians threw stones. " The agents of that country (Belarus) are under a lot of pressure and their inability to bring the immigrants who have concentrated at the border to Poland causes them problems ."
The Polish government was among those urging Minsk to expel the mercenaries as soon as possible, along with the three Baltic republics. This was announced by the Polish Minister of the Interior, Mariusz Kaminski. We demand that the Lukashenko regime immediately expel the Wagner group from Belarus and that illegal migrants leave the border area immediately. He also warned that Warsaw "will immediately retaliate" if any kind of incident occurs on its border or that of neighboring countries. "All border points will be closed."
These words come, according to Kaminski, after an "escalation" of tension on the border with the increase of a deliberate "migratory pressure".
