Zelensky ready to sign pact with US on minerals...
President Volodymyr Zelensky has reacted to Trump's decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine.
He writes in X that the meeting with Donald Trump last week was disastrous and "didn't go as planned." He also says that "it's unfortunate that it happened this way."
A few days after the volatile meeting in the Oval Office, the US president ordered a pause in military support for Ukraine.
In a lengthy post on X, the Ukrainian president wrote that he would like to " reiterate Ukraine's commitment to peace " and said that Kiev is " ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible ."
He said the country was ready to sign a minerals and security agreement with the US "at any time."
" We see this agreement as a step towards greater security and lasting security guarantees and I really hope that it will work effectively ," he added.
Zelensky also stressed how grateful he and the Ukrainians were for US aid - during the meeting where Trump and his Vice President JD Vance attacked Zelensky for what they perceived as insufficient gratitude for US military and other assistance.
He said: " We really appreciate how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed."

I would like to reiterate Ukraine's commitment to peace.
None of us want an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. No one wants peace more than the Ukrainians. My team and I are ready to work under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve a peace that lasts.
We are ready to work quickly to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and a ceasefire in the skies - a ban on missiles, long-range drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure - and a ceasefire at sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very quickly through all the next stages and work with the US to agree on a strong final agreement.
We truly appreciate how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump gave Ukraine Javelins. We are grateful for that.
Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go as it should have. It is unfortunate that it happened this way. It is time to set things right. We wish that future cooperation and communication will be constructive.
Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step towards greater security and solid security guarantees, and I really hope that it will work effectively.
