On August 15, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet face to face in Alaska, in the first official meeting between the two leaders since the US president took office.
The choice of location, near the Bering Strait, is being described by Moscow as "logical" for the two neighboring countries.
The Kremlin is already looking ahead and inviting Trump to Russia for a later summit.
Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, officials from the United States, Ukraine, and the European Union are coordinating to come up with a common strategy.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reacted to a plan according to which peace between Russia and Ukraine could be established by exchanging territories.
"Ukrainians are defending what is theirs... Of course, we will not give Russia any reward for what it has done... The answer to the territorial issue of Ukraine is already in the Constitution of Ukraine... Ukrainians will not give their land to the invader," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
According to reports in the Wall Street Journal, Russian President Putin has presented the Trump administration with a ceasefire proposal that includes significant territorial concessions from Kiev and a commitment to global recognition of its claims.
