Zuckerberg offered her $1 billion for collaboration, Mira Murati rejects

Albanian-American engineer and former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati has turned down a staggering $1 billion offer from Mark Zuckerberg-led startup Meta. The offer was intended to lure her and her team to Meta's new artificial intelligence project, called Superintelligence Lab.

After leaving OpenAI in late 2024, Murati founded Thinking Machines Lab, which is now valued at over $12 billion, although it has yet to launch a product to the public. In just a few months, her company has attracted the attention of investors and big tech players, including Mark Zuckerberg's own giant Meta.

According to reports from prestigious international media, Meta has offered amounts ranging from 200 million to 1 billion dollars to recruit members of Murati's team. However, no one from the team has accepted the offer, according to Murati herself: "So far, no member of the team has accepted the offer," she said in a recent interview.

The decision to reject the offer has been interpreted as a clear signal that Murat's team is committed to an independent vision for the ethical and controlled development of artificial intelligence away from the influence of technology giants that are often at the center of criticism for their monopolistic approach and lack of transparency.

Technology analysts have described this rejection as one of the most significant moments in the global competition regarding technological developments regarding Artificial Intelligence. International media have praised Mira Murati's stance, which has chosen to remain independent in her project, after a revolution that the Albanian made as Chief Technology Officer at Open AI.
