Tourists who visited Albania last year spent almost 4.2 billion euros. Data from the Bank of Albania show that foreign spending in 2023 increased by over 1.3 billion euros compared to 2022. This is the highest level ever recorded.
"It was expected. It has gone in line with the number of tourists. We had a record in both visitors and economic impact. This is at least based on the data of the Bank of Albania" , said the expert Flora Xhamani Baba.
In a similar line, the expenses of Albanians who preferred to spend their holidays outside, which reached over 2.3 billion euros. In relation to 2022, the spending of Albanians for vacations increased by 564 million euros or almost 40 percent.
" It affected the increase in prices. Where they grow, they remain affordable for foreigners, but not for us. Also, the addition of "low cost" lines has had its own contribution to this progress" , adds the expert.
Data from the Central Bank show that, on average, each foreign tourist spent 398.3 euros on vacation in the country last year. On the other hand, every Albanian who spent holidays outside during 2023 turns out to have spent 337.6 euros.
" This year we have to increase the quality of the service. We are still far from elite tourism. These levels of spending are nothing ."
According to data from the Institute of Statistics, last year Albania was visited by over 10.1 million foreigners, most of them from Kosovo, Italy, North Macedonia, Greece, and Great Britain./ A2CNN
