The panorama of Shkodra today is a frightening reality for the party that has held power there for 34 years.
Sali Berisha's mention or attack on the mayor of Shkodra, at the rally on March 19 at the Shkodra Sports Palace, can be called normal.
Since it was the opening of the campaign, it is time to charge the base and give an impulse to the controversial debate, and to be in the spotlight in some way.
Meanwhile, the reopening of this argument, in the case of the homage to honor the martyrs of April 2, 1991, is at least surprising, and normally a political absurdity.
If you watch the coverage given by both central and local television stations of Berisha's visit to Shkodra on April 2, you will notice that he only speaks against Benet Beci, and not about the case he had attended. Where, in a way, he was supposed to show respect for the victims and their families.
But even though it provoked, it still had no effect on the city, and only today has Mayor Benet Beci responded with a rebuke.
In fact, the reason for Berisha's provocation is more a tactical embarrassment than a development in the political debate of Shkodra. It is a tactical embarrassment, since in the square near the April 2nd monument, there were no more than 50 people, which constitutes a development alla OGF. A development that has become routine for the DP as well as Berisha himself. Who as the leader of the list has sent Luciano Boçi, who has no connection with either the city or the region, while he chose the March 19 rally as a Pit Stop to arrive in Podgorica. Where the summit of the European People's Parties was held, which is a very important occasion for the doctor to remove at least a little the international isolation that the Non Grata of the USA and Great Britain have caused him.

Which is going to be or is one of the most interesting districts of the May 11 elections. This is not only due to the diaspora vote, which has been registered quite a bit to bring the vote by mail, but also due to an important political competition.
On the left, there is a real competition between the Socialist Party and Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party, mainly in the areas of Nënshkodra, Vau i Dejës, Puka and Fushë-Arra.
Meanwhile, on the right, although it does not look good in the polls, which are mainly national and not at a local territorial level, there is a strong competition between Sali Berisha's DP and Lulzim Basha's group. Which, at least in terms of lists, has much more competitive characters than Berisha's DP.
Which is likely to be facing a very bitter surprise in Shkodra, perhaps more bitter than that of May 14, 2023.
